Visit To Madhavaram Mahabubnagar District Andhra Pradesh
Photos taken during my visit to Sri Venugopala Swamy temple on 9.11.2008 Sunday with Bhim Bahadur Ramprasad and our families. The temple is very old and the architecture is still preserved. There are temples dedicted to : Sri Venugopala Swamy Sudarsana Narsimha Swamy amp; Hanuman. Lord Rama Sita Laxmana Bharata Shatrugna and Hanuman are in Swayumbhu form. Sudarsana homam is performed here and were lucky enough to witness the 1003rd Sudarsana homam performed by Shri Kannan the chief priest of the Temple. For those who are travelling from Hyderabad take the Srisailam highway and after travelling about 35 Kms from Charminar you will come across a village by name “Kadthal”. After you cross the Kadthal town take a right turn from the Highway and travel around 11 Kms. You will see a signboard named “Sri Venugopala Swamy”. It is not a pucca road. However a BT road is being laid. You cannot see the temple from anywhere near the road. It is totally covered under huge trees. Not only a temple even one can make it as a picnic spot as there is plenty of water and natural shade i.e. huge trees. Also there is a Chariot which was hitherto used for taking out the presiding diety in procession. The beauty of the Chariot is its stone wheels. You can see the skeleton of the chariot still in condition. Anyhow now the Chariot is only a mute spectator to the metamorphosis taking place in and around the world.
From Madhavaram you can also pay a visit to Padakkal Venkateswara Swamy temple which is exactly 8 kms from Madhavaram. The temple as per the priest Shri Narsimha Chary is 800 yearsold. One can see the old architecture still intact. The moment I entered the precints of this temple I could recollect the temple of Sri Venkateswara Swamy at Alwal Secunderabad which is almost similar to the temple of Padakkal. However the Balaji temple at Alwal has been renovated and I can vouch that the temple lost its beauty. The architecture of the old temple is very grandeur. Coming back to the mainstream there is also a big hall where different vahanams viz. Garuda Simha Hamsa Gaja Hanumath Sesha are kept. These vahanams are used duringimportant functions where the presiding diety is taken in a procession in the village on the vahanams. There is a small temple dedicated to LordShiva also.
