The Oldest Museum In Singapore Presents A Wonderful Artistic Journey

The National Museum of Singapore was originally named the Singapore History Museum until it was relaunched in 2006 as part of a renovation programme.

Being the oldest and first museum in Singapore visitors can find a variety of artifacts and other items housed within its prestigious walls. It is also one of the four national museums in the country. The museum was originally conceived as the Raffles Library and Museum during 1849 when it displayed items of archeological value in both Asia and Singapore.

The exterior faade is magnificent and features an impressive style that looks even more stunning when illuminated at night under its own lights. More impressive is the fact that the structure actually features an interesting fusion of both the new and old as a new structure was constructed to house more art and other facilities but it manages to blend seamlessly with the existing structure.

Some of the interiors of the structure are also truly magnificent featuring impressive glass panels and luxurious wooden floors that truly convey a sense of awe as visitors pass through it.

The museum has a permanent exhibition space of around 2800 m2 through the newly constructed glass building and includes exhibits such as the history of Singapore and cultural history of Singapore. A special spiral leads downwards in to the structure and will take visitors to the national treasures of Singapore that includes the Singapore Stone as several 14th century gold ornaments.

Going beyond simply being an exhibition space the museum has since its reopening strived to introduce more facilities for visitors including shopping opportunities restaurants public sculpture gardens and more.

In addition to the permanent exhibition various other events also take place with temporary or guest exhibitions of art that are housed in the museums for a limited time only.

When in Singapore guests should not pass up the opportunity to visit this artistic destination that is rich with history and tradition in addition to its impressive array of art. Staying in a Singapore hotel that is located close to the museum such as Orchard Hotel Singapore will not only provide convenient access but also an array of facilities and services that is provided with an impeccable level of service.
