Kung Pao chicken also spelled Kung Po chicken is a classic dish in Sichuan cuisine originating in the Sichuan Province of centralwestern China. The dish is named after Ding Baozhen 18201886 a late Qing Dynasty official. Born in Guizhou Ding served as head of Shandong province and later as governor of Sichuan province. His title was Gong Bao or palatial guardian. The name “Kung Pao” chicken is derived from this title.

The dish exists in both traditional Sichuan and Westernized versions; the latter is more popular in the United States and Canada.

If you are planning your China vacations now you should try the traditional Sichuan version of Kung Pao chicken. In my point of view this is the real Kung Pao chicken not the Westernized version.

1. Guolin Zhongguancun branch: The Guolin is a famous Chinese HomeStyle Cooking restaurant in Beijing. The price is not high about 50 rmb for one person. An interesting thing here is that you can get some discounts if you wait here for the seats. : If you are not a big fan of the spicy food you will need to tell the waiters / waitress first. 4. Xinbashu Boiled Fish Changping: You can know that the most famous dish here is the Boiled Fish cost only 28 rmb from its name. Many people like the Boiled Fish here because it is not very spicy. Its environment and decorations are good. This restaurant is always in good business no matter you come here in weekend or week days. Although it is a little bit crowded and noisy sometimes its services are not bad. China Tours – Yunnan Tour

A vacation tour to Yunnan the most diverse and mysterious province in China offers a tourist a variety of scenery with beautiful landscape and a variety of cultural flavors. This article presents my enchanting 8 days Yunnan tour.

Day 01: Kunming
Upon arrival our local guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel. Kunming is home to a mix of ethnic groups and endowed with a remarkable traditional folk culture. The rest of the day is at your own free.

Day 02: Kunming
After breakfast you will drive about 120 kilometers to the Stone Forest showing you a natural wonder of limestone karst formation formed 270 million years ago. In the afternoon you will drive back to downtown city to stroll amongst the Flowers and Birds Market.

Day 03: Kunming Dali
Take the morning flight to Dali wellknown historical and cultural city inhabited by Bai people. After checking in and freshening up you will pay a visit to the Bai village Xizhou and zhoucheng. Then proceed to the Three Pagodas a symbol of the history of Dali City. Also enjoy wandering around the Dali Ancient Town first established in 1382 AD.

Day 04: Dali Lijiang
In the morning take a 3hour drive to Lijiang. Visit Shaping Market on the way. Shaping Market is a local market on every Monday. Upon arrival in Lijiang check in the hotel. Afternoon is your own pleasure to stroll the old town.

Day 05: Lijiang
You will visit Ganhaizi Meadow Baishui White Water take a chairlift to visit the Yak Meadow 3700 M in the Yulong Snow Mountain. Yulong Snow Mountain stretches a length of 35 kilometers 22 miles and a width of 20 kilometers 13 miles .
In the afternoon pay a visit to Baisha Frescos.

Day 06: Lijiang ShangriLa
Start the day with set out the drive to ShangriLa. ShangriLa also known as Zhongdian a bright pearl mounted in the “Great Triangle” connecting Yunnan Sichuan and Tibet.

From Lijiang you will drive about 60 Km to the First Bend on the Yangtze River with imposing gorge scenery and the Iron Chain Bridge in the Stone Drum town. The town of Stone Drum got its name from a large cylindrical marble tablet shaped like a drum.
Continue the driving 40 Km more to visit the Tiger Leaping Gorge the deepest gorge in the world. Arrive in ShangriLa in the late afternoon.

Day 07: ShangriLa
Visit the Songzanlin Monastery in the morning. Then make an excursion to Nixi Village of Tibetan to observe the traditional way of making special black pottery by hand. Then visit a Tibetan family.

Day 08: ShangriLa Lijiang
After breakfast you will drive back to Lijiang and our tour guide will help you take a flight to your next destination.
